CALL it fetish but I have a thing about old couples.
Don’t get me wrong, but looking at an elderly couple walking hand in hand around a park simply beats the Mona Lisa anytime. And note; such a picturesque view is rarely seen today.
Personally, I don’t fancy reality shows. Nevertheless, I have been hooked on Amazing Race Season 7. Reason- to watch Meredith and Gretchen (pic) in action.
Meridith (69 years old) and Gretchen (66) have made the tv series colourful, not for their age old wisdom, but more of their true never say die grit.
What amazes me is that Meredith, a retired executive and his wife (a former flight attendant) have been supportive towards each other for their cause of gaining the USD 1 million prize money.
While it is a norm to see younger couples arguing and disapproving of each other’s action, this Maryland couple only shower each other with love and words of support, enough for them to reach to the final four.
There have been many instances during the series which both this individuals have gained my up most respect. However, the pinnacle of their love was demonstrated while they were on a task in India. Gretchen took the responsibility of going through almost 600 steel cases to find the pass and despite almost giving up, Meredith only gave her words of encouragement and never once blew his top despite the fact they were placed last.
It is a contest at the end of the day. But this dynamic duo certainly brought a pinch of fantasy into this reality show; much to the extent that such fantasy does exist, if you want it to exist.
Cheers to both the couples…for they have certainly inspired me to live my life supporting and giving my best to my future other half. It’s never too late to change, and I want that pinch of fantasy to be a reality.
