King of the Road

SO it seems the people has spoken.
Works Minister Datuk Seri S Samy Vellu responded in the affirmative when asked if our roads are at par with foriegn countries. Nevertheless, NTV7's just conluded news ran an SMS poll which read only a mere 8% agreed with Samy's sentiments while the rest believe our roads need a lot more work.
In defence to the minister, it was after all an SMS voting system and it is not know how many respondents voted in the first place.
Nevertheless, the road issue, like many others, have received much criticism from the users.
The motorcyle lane along the Federal Highway is filled with holes. The Middle Ring Road 2 also faces the same issue.
What about cracking bridges and sinking schools? What about poorly design roads that only cause deaths and nothing else.
Surprisingly, heavy vechicles contribute to much of the road damage and yet big bikers are forced to fork out RM400 per year in road taxes. Wonder how much mess can an 800cc bike do to the streets of KL?
Sigh!
