head-butt-taining
SPORTS does unite us all, even in peculiar ways.
This was proven by Frech playmaker Zinedine Zidane, British jockey Paul O’Neill and former Moto GP champion Australian Mick Doohan as all three have picked up a new trend- head butting!
Doohan, who won five world titles consecutively since 1994, was fined AUS$ 2500 by the Darwin magistrates court after admitting to head butting a bouncer at a local strip club last Sunday.
The 41 year old racing legend head butted the bouncer’s mouth while being restrained after being involved in a fight. The fight was said to be caused after Doohan himself started stripping and was asked to leave the joint.
Doohan’s lawyer pleaded for leniency due to his status but this did not convince magistrate Greg Cavanagh who added his behaviour was “wholly unacceptable” as he is seen as a role model to the younger generation.
Zidane started the head butting frenzy during the World Cup final against Itallian Marco Metarazzi last month. The three time FIFA world player of the year (1998, 2000, 2003) was handed a fine and had to clock three days of community service.
The sporting world was once again shocked after London based jockey O’Neill head butted his horse before a race and was handed a one day suspension by the British Horseracing Regulatory Body.
Zidane head butted an opposing player, while O’Neill hit a horse. If only Doohan had a crack at his bike instead of a bouncer, now that would have been another stupid sight to behold!
