KJ as Sports Minister?
WE feel your pain KJ.
EVERYONE in the circle knows about it. Yet everyone is hoping it will not
come true.
That is the fear going around the Malaysian sporting faternity as Khairy Jamaluddin (KJ) is rumoured to play the role of Sports Minister replacing Azalina Othman Said after the General Elections supposedly scheduled early next year.
The Oxford educated Khairy has made his stand clear in sports by heading newly promoted Super League team UPB-MyTeam, a team originated by a reality TV series two years back.
There are also rumours of Khairy and company taking over the FA of Malaysia's administration as the Pahang royalty are set to step down right after the on-going Asian Cup.
Azalina has over her short span 'gagged' the media over constructive criticism and even barred journalists from covering certain events. Her media officials are also known to call up journalists asking them for explanations over articles written.
With the PM's son-in-law heading the show, some fear it would be even worse than it already is, as some sports officials will be busy pleasing rather than getting any serious work done.
Giving credit, Khairy's UPB-MyTeam has set a bar for club based teams in the country and perhaps his administrative ways would only be clearly seen once he takes up what would be his most important political position to date.
Or it could be another painful five years for sports enthusiasts in the country.
